Train travel Nuremberg to Prague

Question:

What is the best way to get from Nuremberg to Prague? We are staying in Old Town Square. We would like to travel by train if possible but bus is fine as well. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Our Response:

Hello, thanks for getting in touch!

I'm always someone who prefers relaxing train rides over buses. But after thinking about this route, I'm a bit torn between the two options.

The bus between Nurnberg and Prague is faster and easier. There is a direct bus that takes about 3 hours and 45 minutes.

From my knowledge there isn't a direct train between the two cities. Instead you would have to transfer once in Schwandorf. And the route would total 5 hours.

I don't think transferring from one train to another would be a big deal, especially with about twenty minutes between trains.

So it's up to you, do you go with the scenic train rides at a slower pace or the big bus which is at least an hour faster.

There is one last bit of info I found. The bus runs much more regularly so it will be easier to choose a time that is right for you. There is one every 1 to 2 hours during the day. While the train has fewer options.

For schedules you can use the Czech server, www.http://jizdnirady.idnes.cz. And, the German one is www.http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de.

Well, hope this information helps. If you have any other questions, please contact us.

All the best,
