Cheap Hotel in Prague... Tips and Suggestions

You can find some wonderful, small family owned places with real ambience and great service too. It's certainly nice, when a family member or even an owner checks you into your room personally.

The Capri has wonderfully pleasant and bright rooms and their prices are second to none. They actually have a "Best Price Guarantee."

The hotel offers some fantastic last minute deals as well.

The hotel itself is a bit further from the historic center. The neighborhood is called Holesovice which is a quick tram ride from Old Town.

We like this area of the city too for it's parks, museums and the very likeable, Letna Beer Garden nearby.

This cheap hotel in Prague is a small friendly hotel - only 18 rooms. Each offers all you'll need with all the basic amenities like internet access and satellite TV. They also have a great breakfast included in the price.

The one drawback may be that's there's no elevator. But there are only three floors so there aren't many stairs.

The Hotel Gloria Prague is a bit larger with 44 rooms, but it still has a quiet homey feel to it. It's well located in the always-interesting area of Zizkov - not far from Wenceslas Square and the main train station.

The rooms don't scream cheap hotel in Prague but just the opposite. They are modern with big comfy beds and nice clean tiled bathrooms.

Some rooms are a bit small, but how much time do you really need to spend there :-)

After all, the sights are a short tram ride away. You can be shopping on Wenceslas Square in a few short minutes. And, Old Town is a short walk from there.

Each room is equipped with minibar, cable TV and breakfast is included. The hotel has free internet access too. Who says a cheap hotel in Prague has to be cheap in taste?

We recommend the on site restaurant Sklepeni that serves a variety of cuisines. The Gloria also offers 24 hour reception.

Tips for Finding a Cheapest Hotel in Prague

There are a few things you can keep in mind when searching Prague hotels. These tips may help you find something appropriate:
  • Search by neighborhood for a cheap hotel in Prague. These areas are great to stay in and all have great access to the city center: Brevnov, Dejvice, Nove Mesto (New Town), Smichov (Andel), Vinohrady and Zizkov.

  • Look for last minute deals. The cheapest hotels in Prague will offer great discounts if you can book shortly before your arrival. This is difficult during high season but it's worth risking for great deals up to 50% off.

  • Visit Prague between Monday and Thursday. This will give you more choices and better prices.

  • Be flexible with your dates. Hotel managers will offer great specials if you can fill their specific vacancies. Also, consider visiting in the winter. Aside from major holidays Prague is very cheap between November and March.

Other than a cheap hotel in Prague there's...

A lot of visitors get stuck on the idea that they have to stay in a "HOTEL."

But, in Prague, this simply isn't the case. There's lots more that offer hotel services without being standard.

And, these can be found in the relative center of the city. Okay, maybe not in Old Town, but you're out to save a bit of money (and not be crushed by tourists outside your window!).

When looking for cheap hotel in Prague, please consider these other options. Here's our short list that might help broaden your search.

1. Consider a cheap Prague pension. Never heard of a pension. Well, maybe you're familiar with an inn or bed and breakfast. A pension is in the same vein as these. Prague has lovely original pensions.

2. What about apartments in Prague? Some apartments will meet your budget and they are generally bigger than a standard hotel room in Prague.

3. Come aboard a Prague Botel. Yes, it's a boat and a cheap hotel in Prague - right on the Vltava River. Try the Botel Matylda for starters. You may never sleep on land again!
