These Mala Strana hotels highlight the charm
that makes this area so romantic and interesting. Most of
these hotels are just steps from Prague Castle and Charles
Bridge as well.
Best of all, Mala Strana is absolutely charming and less
crowded than Old Town. This is where you want to stay if
you prefer something quiet and removed from the bustle of
the city.
So, before you book any hotel in Old Town consider Mala
Strana hotels first. It's our favorite area of Prague!

We're not sure how they keep their rates so
low, but take advantage of it. This gem is right
on Kampa Island, a lovely spot below Charles
Bridge yet still quiet. It seems nearly
impossible, but it's true. The rooms are absolutely comfortable and
surprising given the location and price. Some
have views
of the bridge and all have internet access,
phone, mini bar and TV. The staff is also very
helpful and can even supply a few toys for the
kids and a DVD player upon request. But, don't stay inside too long - get out and
enjoy the beauty of Kampa Island and the little
streets nearby. The John Lennon wall is just the
other side of the canal and numerous cafes and
restaurants are nearby too. Of all the Mala Strana hotels this might be the
cheapest. But, you don't give up much and the
location is very, very good. Address: U Sovových mlýnů 9, Mala Strana, Prague 1. |

The Appia isn't a hotel by definition - it's a
bit more like an inn or guesthouse. But, that
doesn't really matter - it still offers the rare
combination of low
rates, an excellent location and plenty
of comfort. So, don't get caught up in the
semantics. The Appia was once a convent and sits quietly
hidden along a little street not far from
Charles Bridge and a few impressive embassies. Inside you'll find 21 suites ranging in size
from double room to apartment. Each includes
breakfast, plasma TV, marble bathrooms and
minibar. The residence also has a sauna,
underground parking and bar in the lobby. Our
favorite spot is the outdoor terrace dining. The
garden and courtyard are so peaceful, you would
never imagine you're in a European capital. Address: Sporkova 9, Mala Strana, Prague 1. |

Archibald Hotel at Charles Bridge $$ The Archibald is another fantastic and
affordable hotel on Kampa Island. It offers a
number of interesting and unique rooms in a
great location near all Prague attractions. For
example, how about a 30 second walk to Charles
Bridge - not bad, eh? So, there's a lot to like here that many Prague
hotels don't offer, including: cool attic rooms,
big bathrooms, and a great little garden
courtyard. We recommend booking a room with a river view
and consider booking far in advance for special
rates - making the Archibald one of the cheaper
Mala Strana hotels and one of the coolest spots. Address: Na Kampě 15, Mala Strana, Prague 1. |

The Roma is an excellent hotel with reasonable rates.
The rooms have been fit in an Italian style yet
are simple, spacious and comfortable. You can
choose between many suites and double rooms -
each with all the amenities you need including
air-conditioning. You can also take advantage of
their airport transfer service or garage
parking. The hotel also offers a nice dining experience
and a large lobby and bar for lounging. We like
the location near Kampa Island and across from Petrin.
There are some great inexpensive, local
restaurants in the area as well. Address: Újezd 24, Mala Strana, Prague 1. |

Domus Henrici Boutique Hotel $$ This hotel is one of the nicest surprises on
our list of Mala Strana hotels. It's very close
to Prague Castle, yet seems to be hidden at the
same time. The hotel embraces simple design and subtle touches
of luxury - beckoning a look at their
comfortable rooms. It also has a remarkable
terrace in the back that offers wonderful views
of Petrin and the surrounding area. Some of the
rooms also have views and each one has all the
amenities you need to stay first class. But, maybe the best part of staying at the
Domus Henrici is the price. Management has
somehow outdone most other hotels with exceptional prices.
For example, choose their Good Luck Room
(very nice double room) and get a free upgrade
to a wonderful suite if it's available when you
arrive. Address: Loretanska 11, Mala Strana, Prague 1. |

Perfectly located, the Golden Star is an
inexpensive option within steps of Prague
Castle. In fact it's right next to the
castle's steps. They offer clean single and
double rooms that are comfortable and charming
without being overwhelming. The key here is
their prices are cheap for this area and they
are a stone's throw of the castle and many other
sights. We particularly like the rooms with views
- but who doesn't? You can see much of Lesser
Town and the castle from some rooms near the
top. And, the restaurant downstairs is an
added bonus. It's nice to sit outside and just
people watch. Address: Nerudova 48, Mala Strana, Prague 1. |

The renovation of this cute building seemed to
take years to us. But, once you see the rooms
and attention to detail you'll understand the
work that was involved. The Santini is a formidable luxury Prague hotel
right on the Royal Route - the old coronation
route of kings. It offers all the pampering
you'll need and is super convenient to all
attractions. The hotel itself is quite small giving each
room its own charm. All have maintained a
historic presence with great detail from painted
wooden ceilings, gothic arches and period
furniture. Thankfully the Santini also include lots of
perks like LCD televisions, internet and great
big beds. We also like the surprising atrium
that is hidden in the hotel's interior. Address: Nerudova 14, Mala Strana, Prague 1. |

Design Hotel Sax $$$ This boutique four-star hotel is just up the
street from the U.S. embassy in a quiet spot not
far from Charles Bridge. Inside it offers a
completely different setting that's atypical of
the more historic Mala Strana hotels nearby.
This concept along with its location make it
worth a good look. The Sax offers cool retro rooms designed with
the 1950's-1970's in mind. You'll find plenty of
funky patterns and stylish furniture in all
parts of the hotel. Fortunately, the services don't end with the
impressive decor. The hotel has a multitude of
stuff to offer you: DVD library, spa and massage
services, afternoon tea and even a coffee room.
If that's not enough, there's even a laptop in
every room. Basically, the hotel will see to
whatever your whim.. haircut anyone? Address: Jánský vršek 3, Mala Strana, Prague 1. |

Golden Well - U Zlate Studne $$$ If we made a top 10 list of Prague hotels, this
would be near the top. It stands nearly alone in
a crowded group of Prague hotels. The service
and comfort here is nearly unmatched citywide. The Golden Well is tucked in next to Prague
Castle on a quiet lane and actually borders the
Royal Gardens
of the castle. There are only 17 rooms and 2
suites, but each space is a world of amenities
and comfort for guests. Be sure to take
advantage of an oil bath after seeing the sights
or try out their turndown service with
good-night amenities and "pillow and bedding
menu". Nothing is overlooked at the Golden Well. It's
everything you want from a hotel - including
restaurant dining with a gorgeous view of
Prague. Address: U Zlate Studne 4, Mala Strana, Prague 1. |

Alchymist Residence Nosticova $$$ The Alchymist is a luxury Prague hotel with
lots of eye popping decor inside and of course
offers great access to the treats outside. We
especially recommend a stay here if you're
looking to be pampered and treated like royalty
- like many celebrities before you. From the
bedding to the ornate antiques and spa
treatments, you might not want to leave. Rates here are standard for luxury hotels in
Prague, but they offer lots of package deals and
options to make things more affordable. You'll
find a variety of rooms and suites and some have
kitchens and sitting rooms for lots of extra
room. Don't miss dining beneath the gaudy arched
ceilings of the hotel's restaurant too. It's a
perfect place for a memorable birthday,
honeymoon or any special occasion. Address: Nosticova 1, Mala Strana, Prague 1. |
