My grandpa, grandma and my dad were Czech, I remember to eat this soup with kendliky cooked in water and meat dumplings, but I don´t remember the name and how I can write it in czech. Can you tell me this?, please.

Thanks for asking about one of my favorite soups...

Here's my grandma's recipe for Czech tomato soup. Like a lot of Czech food, it's nothing fancy, but I like to think it's the "finest."

This recipe is a basic outline. Many Czechs like to add a touch of sugar to give it a hint of sweetness. Also, you might consider balancing the amount of water with tomatoes depending on how much water is in your tomatoes.

Many Czechs add a handful of soup noodles or cooked white rice to the mix during that latter part of cooking. So, experiment as you like.

600 grams of chopped tomatoes (21 ounces)
1 litter of water (about 4 cups)
1 medium onion
2 tbs butter
2 tbs flour
tsp dry bullion (one cube)
sugar
salt
pepper
parsley

Chop onion. In a small pot, fry onion on medium heat for about 5-7 minutes. Then, add flour and stir until golden brown.

Add water and stir until flour is completely mixed (no chunks!). Add the tomatoes, spices to taste, bullion and simmer well for 20-30 minutes. Puree with a hand blender until smooth.

That's basically it but there are more options...

For a creamier soup, add a small amount (half cup) of light cream or milk and cooke for a few more minutes.

Parsley is very important in Czech cooking, so consider adding some to taste or garnish.
